INDIVIDUAL CORRESPONSENCE COURSES: SIX LESSON
THE ENGLISH BAND SAMPLER
Teacher: Nan Tyson Euler
Lets explore the 17th-century English band sampler, its historic
social context, distinguishable bands, and the techniques common
to the 1600s. This course is an in-depth exploration into the band
sampler. Each lesson is designed to introduce one band segment to
the student. The student will be guided in the selection of materials,
band placement, and stitches to produce a sampler uniquely his or
her own. With supporting material, the student is asked to write a
response to a sampler query at the conclusion of the course. With
the completion of this six-part course, the student will have stitched
a band sampler, created a notebook of stitches, and have supple-
mental research material.
