T he  Mary-Dick  Digges  Scholarship  fund  was  established  in  2001  from  contributions  made  in  honor  of  Mary-Dick  Digges’  lifelong achievements in and contributions to the art of embroidery to provide scholarships to EGA members for the study of surface embroidery. For the purpose of this scholarship fund, “surface embroidery” shall be defined as crewel embroidery, Japanese embroidery, and stumpwork. The scholarship may be applied to any class in surface embroidery that is either EGA sponsored or non-EGA sponsored. Please check the EGA Seminar 2007 brochure when it arrives for classes in crewel, Japanese embroidery and stumpwork that meet the requirements for this schol- arship. Applicants shall be members of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. Recipients of the Mary-Dick Digges Scholarship shall be determined by the Education Committee in a blind screening. The recipient shall provide a copy of the class registration form upon which registration and kit fees up to $250.00 in the year 2007 (for the 2007 scholarship) or 2008 (for the 2008 scholarship) shall be paid directly to the sponsoring group. Requests for the grant are to be postmarked on or before April 1, 2007 or 2008 depending upon the year of application. Notification of the grant shall be made to the recipient by May 1 of the scholarship year, and announced in the September issue of Needle Arts. The class shall be taken within the 12 months following notification. The recipient shall make a brief report of the class to the Director of Education within 30 days after completion.
