00099 Miniature Cope

German, 1798

Semi-circle of silk, blue, lined with rose taffeta and bobbin lace border, gilt thread seashell pattern, silk embroidered flowers, gilt(mirrored)glass stones, metal rosettes;  inscribed “Francisca 1798 Von Schatten” “HIS” in center, possibly made for Madonna statue or Infant of Prague or adorning saints on Holy days.
