Group Correspondence Courses offer a low cost, high quality learning experiences for groups of twenty or less and their group coordinator.
- Correspondence Courses are open to all EGA members.
- Participants work together or individually to learn new techniques, and the course fee is divided among them
- Participants purchase their own course booklets and other supplies
- At least two supply sources are provided with every course.
- Some students may have difficulty in finding and working with some of the unusual materials featured in Correspondence Courses. These materials have been included because they provide a variety of options for a student's own work.
A coordinator is appointed by the chapter president to act as a liaison between teacher and students. The coordinator orders booklets and arranges to have projects sent to the teacher and evaluated projects returned to students. For this service, the group coordinator is charged no fee for the course but does purchase a booklet and supplies.
EGA members-at-large may also form a group, appoint a coordinator, and share in a Correspondence Course. Any individual member may register for a Group Correspondence Course and will be responsible for the entire course fee.
We hope you will enjoy the new courses introduced both on the website and in the published Education Catalog. Courses are continually being developed.
Fees
The course, text, and approximate supply fees are listed with each of the course descriptions. The course fee is shared equally by participants, excluding the group coordinator. Each participant, including the group coordinator, purchases a text and supplies
Shipping
Specific instructions about shipping Correspondence Course pieces outside the country are included in the text from any teacher living outside the U.S.
Enrollment
- Read the Correspondence Course description and choose carefully. Course fees are not refundable.
- No more than twenty members plus their group coordinator may register as a group.
- Download a form from the GCC Information page of the EGA website or, to request a paper copy, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to EGA Headquarters.
- Return to EGA National Headquarters the following: The completed registration form, a list of participants with membership numbers, and a check to cover the course and text fees. Please note: checks must be drawn from your chapter or region treasury. Only members-at-large or independent groups may send personal checks. Please contact EGA Headquarters if you would like to pay by credit card.
- The GCC registrar will notify the teacher of your registration. The teacher will then contact your group coordinator and send the course texts and introductory materials.
- Schedule the necessary number of meetings. When scheduling the first meeting, allow time for office processing and mail delivery. Your starting date must be scheduled at least six weeks after the CC Registrar receives your completed registration form and check.
- When all the paperwork is complete and the starting date arrives, begin the fun, the learning, and the stitching.
- Projects must be received within thirty days of the scheduled deadline, unless alternative arrangements have been made with the teacher, or the group forfeits the privilege of its evaluations. Be sure to enclose return postage and insurance when sending the projects to the teacher for evaluation. If postage is not included, projects will be returned COD for postage.
- For chapters participating in a Correspondence Course, the chapter name must appear on all correspondence and on each project sent for evaluation.
- When evaluated projects are returned by the teacher, complete the course evaluation form, mail one copy to the teacher, and mail one to the CC Chairman.
