gcc Isabella3Isabella2This course continues your exploration of the wonderful technique of Italian style drawn thread. The project has been designed as a decorative hand towel but could easily be converted into a placemat, tablemat or even a table runner by using a longer piece of linen. There are six decorative bands across the towel three of which require withdrawing threads using two different methods. This course teaches the art of knotting bundles both in a straight line and in a curving line that undulates across the band. A simple dove's eye pattern is worked in band two on the straight lacing while a needlewoven fan pattern is worked between the undulating knotted threads of band six. Although this is an advanced level course, if you are familiar with withdrawing threads and want to explore and expand your knowledge and ability it is an ideal place to start. Left-handed instructions are available on request.
