17th Century Band Samplerby Louise Henderson
(click teacher's name for bio)

This sampler was created to teach a large variety of the stitches used in the Seventeenth Century.  Among the various 17th century needlework pieces studied, more than 75 stitches were named.  Using the silk colors used on the 17th century Jamestown jacket, you will stitch more than 25 of those stitches.  Using Gold Tambor and Passing threads, many stitches from Elizabethan Sweet Bags will also be taught.  The sampler also has a cutwork band and a white work band.  NOTE: The photographed piece shows silk threads; if you substitute cotton for silk, the colors will vary significantly from the photograph.
