Dr. Cheryl Christian is the editor of Needle Arts and Inside EGA. She has been editorial coordinator for ANG’s Needle Pointers, contributing editor for Fine Lines, and a frequent contributor to Antique Review and Cotton & Quail. She is an EGA-certified master judge and EGA-certified appraiser. She is Director of Judges’ Certification for the National Academy of Needlearts and co-chairs EGA’s Appraiser Certification Program. Christian completed the full three-year rotation of the Summer Institute at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Art in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She publishes and lectures on material culture, textiles, judging, appraising, and history, and, in particular, the contextualization samplers. Christian practices many kinds of needlework, conducts research on textiles and history, and continues to learn as many different forms of needle art as possible.
